Museum on the Move brings Maple Ridge history into your classroom! In accordance with the BC Social Studies curriculum, we are bringing local history to your school in a way that is educational, interactive, and FUN!
COMING APRIL 2023
The Community of Maple Ridge K-3
30 minutes
Topics covered include what makes up a community, how Maple Ridge has changed over time, what Maple Ridge looked like 100 years ago, 50 years ago, and what it looks like today. Activity TBD.
What is Archaeology? K-12
30 minutes to 1 hour depending on grade
Topics include a definition of archaeology and how it differs from other fields of study such as paleontology. Activities include a site survey and a dig. Depending on the grade there will be additional activities.

How it works:
A teacher or group of teachers books one program. Museum on the Move sets up at the school inside or outside (eg gym, multipurpose room, outdoor courtyard, or field). Each classroom will have a set period of time to do the activity. We can accommodate up to four classrooms per school per day.
Each program includes a short introductory presentation, an activity or activities that get students moving and interacting with each other, and then a short conclusion. Teachers will also receive an optional grade-appropriate worksheet to reinforce the lesson, that can be done later in the classroom or at home.
Sample Schedule for Elementary School:
9:00 – Maple Ridge Museum arrives and sets up
9:30-10:15 – Class 1
10:20-10:35 – Recess
10:45-11:30 – Class 2
11:50-12:30 – Lunch
12:35-1:20 – Class 3
1:30-2:15 – Class 4
**As we have limited staff availability, MOTMED will only be available on Thursdays at this time**

SD42 Teachers and Educators: FREE
School districts within the Lower Mainland: $75 + mileage.
