We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to help us preserve history,
engage the community, and expand our programs.
Volunteers at Maple Ridge Museum and/or Haney House can do a wide variety of tasks, depending on their interests.
Museum Tours – Volunteers help keep Haney House open to the public by opening and closing the museum and leading tours for visitors. We are currently seeking volunteers to help share the history of Haney House with our community. During the school year, the museum is open on the first Sunday of each month, and during the summer, it welcomes visitors on Fridays and Sundays.
Programs and Events – Volunteers help bring our programs and special events to life by assisting with preparations and supporting activities such as Music on the Wharf, community events throughout Maple Ridge, and family fun days at the museum. Shifts are typically around five hours, and volunteers are contacted as opportunities arise.
Research, Archives, and Collections – Volunteers assist with scanning and digitization, collections management, research, and the re-housing of archival materials and artifacts. Shift lengths and frequency are flexible, with volunteers contacted as needed based on project requirements.
Headstone Preservation Project – We have an open call for volunteers to clean headstones at the Maple Ridge and Whonnock Cemeteries and have six cleaning dates over the summer. If you would like to learn more and sign up to clean, click here.
If you are a youth volunteer, 18 years or younger, please have a parent or guardian download this consent letter. Page 2 should be completed by your parent/guardian and it can be scanned & emailed to engage@mapleridgemuseum.org or brought with you to our first meeting.
